Springtime is magnificent at Blackheath and each year the local residents celebrate the occasion with the colourful and spectacular Rhododendron Festival. The Festival Committee over the years has raised considerable amounts of money, which has been invested back into the local community. Whilst you visit Blackheath (the highest town in the Blue Mountains at 1060 metres above sea level) don’t forget a visit to the Bacchante Rhododendron Gardens & Govetts Leap Lookout - dine at the many and varied eating establishments - and remember your stay - most of all please drive home safety. Thank you for visiting us. Welcome to this Woodland Garden where Rhododendrons have been introduced as the main exotic plant. Complemented by Azaleas. Mollis Azaleas and many deciduous trees. This project is under the control of the Blue Mountains Rhododendron Society and is for the study and growing of many hundreds of varieties and species of the really beautiful Rhododendron. You are invited to enjoy the many lovely walks and the amenities available, and we look forward to your donation in the box provided near the parking area as this project is maintained from the money visitors donate and the members. subscriptions as well as the support of many fine citizens and local Clubs and Societies. Please protect our Garden and native Flora and Fauna by being tidy and keeping to the walking tracks. |
