Launching and running your own business is always fraught with problems, surprises and let-downs. Just ask Merna at Santas Sweets & Treats in the Three Sisters Plaza at Echo Point at Katoomba.
Her three year dream and passion of creating her own unique fudge, chocolate and confectionery shop has come delightfully true - with success as delicious as her products. But its not been without a great deal of heartache.
Its been a high mountain to climb but Im here now, says Merna, I was even told I was not allowed to give out free fudge for tasting in my own shop but I now charge just 5c a tasting and the customers have no hesitation.
Merna makes her popular Mountain Fudge using a machine imported from America. A fudgeteer of 20 years experience flew out to train me, she adds.
The fudge range of 24 plus flavours includes Chocolate Macadamia, Caramel Swirl, Baileys Irish Cream, Ginger Meg, Khalua Kick and After Dinner Mint. Santas Sweets & Treats is an old world sweet shop the way a sweet shop should be. |
